True story. I got a second card from a major credit card company (who will have to remain nameless so I do not get sued). Then I got a letter cancelling that card after I transfered some charges to it. The transfered charges were sent back to my main card... and I paid it off. Months later, I got a collection notice which said I never paid the original charges on the second (cancelled) card. I proved that it was a double billing but... too late... "it had already gone to collection." To keep my credit intact, I had no choice but to pay the double bill plus "interest+fees" (that amounted to 50% of the original balance): LEGAL USURY.
