Hinduism - Jainism Prayers
The Beauty of This Path:
For me, the motto of Jainism perfectly expresses the beauty of their
path: "non-violence in thoughts, words, and actions is the highest
religion." The essence of non-violence is restraint: "restraint of
mind" (thinking loving thoughts), "restraint of tongue" (saying kind
words) and "restraint of body" (doing loving actions and not doing
unloving actions). "Violence is the knot of bondage" to karma and
the only things can untie the karmic knot are "nonviolence and love"
and the desire for peace and enlightenment!

Prayer for Peace #1
Lead me from Death to Life, from Falsehood to Truth.
Lead me from Despair to Hope, from Fear to Trust.
Lead me from Hate to Love, from War to Peace.
Let Peace fill our Heart, our World, our Universe.
Prayer for Peace #2
Peace and Universal Love is the essence of the Gospel preached by
all the Enlightened Ones. The Lord has preached that equanimity is
the Dharma.
Forgive do I creatures all, and let all creatures forgive me. Unto
all have I amity, and unto none enmity. Know that violence is the
root of all miseries in the world.
Violence is the knot of bondage. "Do not injure any living being."
This is the eternal, perennial, and unalterable way of spiritual
life. A weapon, howsoever powerful it may be, can always be
superseded by a superior one; but no weapon can be superior to
nonviolence and love.
Prayer of Worship
Lord! In praying to you, I violate the restraint of tongue!
In remembering you, I violate the restraint of mind!
In prostrating to you, I violate the restraint of body!
I vow ever to pray to you, remember you,
and to prostrate myself before you!
Prayer for Forgiveness
All that we ought to have thought and have not thought,
All that we ought to have said, and have not said,
All that we ought to have done, and have not done,
All that we ought not to have thought and yet have thought,
All that we ought not to have said, and yet have said,
All that we ought not to have done, and yet have done,
For thoughts, words, and works, pray we, O God, for your forgiveness.
Prayer for Compassion
I need to be forgiven, God, so many times a day.
So often do I slip and fall, Be merciful I pray!
Help me not to be critical, when other's faults I see;
For so many times, O God, The same faults are in me.
Prayer to Heal the Past
O love unspeakable and full of glory, whose majesty is not to destroy,
but to save, save us from ourselves. Our past relentlessly pursues us.
Days that we thought dead live over again; deeds that we deemed buried
meet us on the way, be Thou our defense, O our God! Fill up that which
our lives have left behind.
Undo that which we have done amiss. Repair the places we have wasted,
bind the hearts we have wounded. Dry the eyes we have flooded. Make
the evil we have done work for good, although we would not know it.
Take up our yesterdays with thine own golden light and transform them.
Let us know with joyful surprise how ever against our wills, we were
laboring together with Thee... so our former selves find us no more.
