Native Faiths - North American Prayers
The Beauty of This Path:
For me, the connection to nature is the true beauty of the North American
path. For when we are connected to the beauty of the Earth, we come
closer to God. "Father God" and "Mother Earth" - the male and the
female energies - are both honored and worshipped through prayer.
Their focus on beauty and harmony - about what is right about the world,
instead of what is wrong with it - I found to be calming and relaxing
about their prayers. If you are looking for simple, spiritual prayers,
look right here.

Prayer for Peace
O Great Spirit of our Ancestors, I raise my pipe to you.
To your messengers the four winds, and
to Mother Earth who provides for your children:
Give us the wisdom to teach our children to love,
to respect and to be kind to each other
so that they may grow with peace in mind.
Let us learn to share all the good things
that you provide for us on this Earth.
Prayer for Peace (Cheyenne)
Let us know peace.
For as long as the moon shall rise,
For as long as the rivers shall flow,
For as long as the sun shall shine,
For as long as the grass shall grow,
Let us know peace.
Prayer for Healing
Mother, sing me a song. That will ease my pain,
Mend broken bones, Bring wholeness again.
Catch my babies. When they are born,
Sing my death song, Teach me how to mourn.
Show me the Medicine, Of the healing herbs,
The value of spirit, The way I can serve.
Mother, heal my heart, So that I can see,
The gifts of yours, That can live through me.
Prayer for Healing (Navajo)
In the house made of dawn.
In the story made of dawn.
On the trail of dawn.
O, Talking God.
His feet, my feet, restore.
His limbs, my limbs, restore.
His body, my body, restore.
His mind, my mind, restore.
His voice, my voice, restore.
His heart, my heart, restore.
With beauty before him, with beauty before me.
With beauty behind him, with beauty behind me.
With beauty above him, with beauty above me.
With beauty below him, with beauty below me.
With beauty around him, with beauty around me.
With beauty in his voice, with beauty in my voice.
It is finished in beauty.
In the house of evening light.
From the story made of evening light.
On the trail of evening light.
Prayer for Happiness (Navajo)
In the house of long life, there I wander,
In the house of happiness, there I wander,
Beauty before me, with it I wander,
Beauty behind me, with it I wander,
Beauty below me, with it I wander,
Beauty above me, with it I wander,
Beauty all around me, with it I wander,
In old age travelling, with it I wander,
On the beautiful trail I am,
Beauty before me, with it I wander.
Prayer of Thanksgiving
Now that I am about to eat, O Great Spirit, give my thanks to the
beasts and birds whom You have provided for my hunger. Pray deliver
my sorrow that living things must make a sacrifice for my comfort and
well-being. Let the feather of corn spring up in its time and let it
not wither but make full grains for the fires of our cooking pots,
now that I am about to eat.
